Welcome back everyone! As mentioned in the title, this post is going to be about AR/VR integration into ELT.
For startes, we had to prepare a handout in which we introduced 2 landmarks and 1 museum through AR/VR components and supplementary Skill-spesific activities. Me and my friends (Demirali Kılıç, Tufan Gürültü and Zeynep Yeşildağ) decided to pick Prague, Czech Republic (%99 of it being my influence) for this activity. Prague is a beautiful city with a very rich history behind its every street and building, there were so many beautiful landmarks to choose from but we decided to go with the most popular ones, being the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, and the National Gallery of Prague. We used 360 tour guides from youtube for the first two, and for the Gallery, there is a real-life interactive map of the ENTIRE gallery up to date, which came in very handy and added more depth to our handout. We, of course, prepared a lesson plan according to ASSURE Model's evaluative categories, provided by our teacher (thank you for stating what we need to write there very explicitly.) Other than those, we also did a small activity with the local/traditional czech food, introducing it to the learners and a final writing activity to ensure that all the information we wanted to transfer to the students have gone through successfully. I think that integrating AR/VR into subjects like this is very helpful, as otherwise the sheer amount of information we wanted learners to go through and all the evaluation required would be a burden to both the students and the teacher. Technology comes in very handy by making all of this easier to go through and make it more memorable. We used Canva to design the handout, 360 video guides are from youtube, and the interactive map is from the official website of the National Gallery of Prague. I'm pretty sure there are things i wanted to mention but can't remember right now but i will make sure to add them after my second draft. Anyway, here is the handout and the lesson plan we prepared. Until next time, take care!
Wow what a journey!
